[leighton]Due to our episode on the Jehovah’s Witnesses we received a comment from a very special woman who we were able to convince to come on and speak with us concerning her experiences. She enlightens us much more than any research we could do and we’re glad to have her on to discuss her experiences inside this religion. If you would like to read more about her experiences you can visit her blog. We will be posting this interview for this week’s podcast.

Tall Penguin was raised a Jehovah’s Witness. At the age of 31, after a series of events and realizations, she formally cut ties with the religion. Through her blog, she details the aftermath of leaving the JW’s and the subsequent journey into a life without God and belief. When she isn’t devouring books, Tall Penguin spends her time writing, painting and generally enjoying life.

  1. Sounds awesome. I was wondering if you guys hadn’t showered in a while or something as you had not had guests for a couple months but this should be a good guest episode.

I wouldn’t know anything to ask her except that I am really interested in how the JW church doesn’t celebrate holidays because of the pagan origins. Something about a church that is aware enough to realize the pagan roots of their religion but crazy enough to keep believing it just fascinates me.

    Thanks guys.

  2. A lot of it had to do with my showering habits. Here I thought once a week was good enough, but apparently not. I just can’t keep up with societal norms if they’re going to change them on me.

If it makes you feel any better, we’re going to be having two guests for this month.
