[chuck]I’ve narrowed the title ideas for my podcast to “Unapologetics” and “Chuck Tracts” and acquired both domain names (unapologetics.com is registered to a cybersquatter). In typical Irreligiosophy fashion, I’ll ask for your feedback and then promptly ignore it and choose whatever one I want.

Also, we’ve finished recording the next episode, so I’ll be editing that over the next week or whenever I can get to it. Be on the lookout for that.

EDIT: Apparently the poll crapped out at 163 votes. Final tally was 70% for Unapologetics, 27% for Chuck Tracts, and 3% for some blank option that somehow popped up in the last day or so.

  1. Both Awesome. Can’t you do both, like back in the day when you had news and Irreligiosophy.?

  2. Lucy Harris says:

    It’s a Christmas miracle!

  3. Great to see you back. I look forward to listening to your podcast, whatever the name might be.

  4. Chuck Tracts is awesome, but might be too easily confused for the real deal. My vote is for Unapologetics

  5. Jack Pollock says:

Goddamnit, they’re both great. Where there is choice there is misery. I can’t choose yet.

  6. Charles Minus says:

    Pecker tracts

  7. My vote is for Unapologetics with a segment in the show called Chuck Tracts where you give a chick track treatment to some dumbass religious somethingorother.

Imagine a comic about how stupid the concept of immaculate conception is, then put it in podcast form.

  8. AdmiralAnnoy says:

In accord with Rasputin, Chuck Tracts sounds like a name for a segment on a show or a section on a site/blog. Good pun, but not a great title for a show.

  9. TheGermanator says:

Chuck Tracts is funny, but, as it has been noted, this may lead to some confusion… particularly amongst those looking for Chick Tracks. This, I think, needlessly exposes us to the danger of having to talk to morons unnecessarily. I vote Unapologetics.

  10. I vote for unapologetics because I’m hoping people can’t spell that either. I totally get the Chuck Tracts reference though

  11. Here’s an idea (because I obviously care deeply about this): You know how some podcasts have their regular shows then whenever they’re too lazy to do a whole show they do mini-casts? If you ever have mini-casts you have a cooler name: Chuck Tracts.

  12. Yup, I agree that Unapologetics is the best name! It has that same pseudo-word quality that Irreligiosophy had. Chuck Tracts could be incorporated as religion news or something similar. I hope to find the same hilarity that made me nearly drop my Zune player so many times while listening to Irreligiosophy episodes!!

  13. A .net address definitely has the aura of bad business acumen that we all know and love. Go for that.

  14. FalsettoChildOfGod says:

I like chucktracts. It has a kewl “aren’t we hip for knowing what it means” facet to it. I also like the idea of chicktrack bozos being eaten alive on this board when they show up by accident.

  15. JosephWasACuckold says:

    I’m so excited.

  16. Chuck this really made my day, i first found you guys about a year ago, by the time i got caught up it was almost over. I listen to a lot of the other podcasts and always felt yours to be the most informative and entertaining. Glad to see it is not over!

  17. Herb (12th Apostle) says:

CHUCK’S JACK TRACTS would be even a better play on JACK CHICK TRACTS. Of course, JACK being a euphomisim for LDS advice to young men (which is in itself a euphomism for stroking the monkey…and all other masterabatory ideations).

  18. I like Unapologetics because it fits the theme very well, but Chuck Tracts made me laugh.

  19. I don’t care what you call it!!!! Fuck You very much Chuck!!!!!

  20. “Chuck Tracts” is a great name if you already know what “Chick Tracts” are. For better or worse, there are a lot of people out there who have never seen Chick Tracts. So I think Unapologetics is the way to go.

    PS: Fuck you.

  21. exCatholicRob says:

I like Chuck Tracts so of course I voted for Unapologetics.

And the winner is: Joe Smith’s Hairy Ass.

  22. Johnny Friendly says:

Are you going to be doing more cooking segments this time? Your last podcast was a little light on cooking and I really want to learn how to bake a pie.

  23. Chuck Tracks are what posts should be called when you make fun of Jack Chick tracks and Unapologetics for everything else.

  24. I really like Unapologetics

  25. Mutsie Unfug says:

    How about UPCHUCKS

  26. its a Festivus Miracle
my vote for the title of the new podcast – ‘Festivus for the rest of us’

  27. Hey Chuck, when can we expect the first podcast to be posted? Honestly I don’t know why I’m asking. If you say January 30 I will know with 100 percent certainty that it will not appear on that day.

  28. Not a clue. The plan is to take a month or two to read up and create an initial backlog of episodes, and then try to release them more regularly than Irreligiosophy. Some time in the first quarter of 2012?

  29. Scientists have found the initial source of Leightons problems: http://tinyurl.com/7vldwzu

Okay, so for sure not first quarter of 2012. Since the world is going to end next December, that doesn’t leave many episodes.

  30. AngryBudgie says:

Oooohhh Chucktracks….that has a nice ring to it.

  31. Got to be Unapologetics out of those two. I base this solely on the fact that it more likely to be mispronounced when mentioned by other podcasts like Irreligiosophy was so we can laugh at them.

  32. i still like chucked-up, but fuck the name, just get back to work 🙂

  33. I vote chucktracts!!!

  34. crazedcatlady says:

i’m stoked to hear your new podcasts! thanks for doing this chuck 🙂

  35. somewhere in greece says:

    You made my day 🙂

  36. Citizen Wolf says:

    How about Unapologosophy.

But if you’re going to stick with the two mentioned, then my vote is for Unapologetics.

Happy New Year. Can’t wait for Dec 21 and the end of the world. I’m planning on being on board that plane with John Cusack.

  37. These names are too easy to pronounce and they aren’t sufficiently recondite. I say, instead, that you make up some wretched word and call everyone stupid for failing to comprehend it. Let me take a stab at it: philo (Greek always hints that the speaker is so smart) + animus (gods, I love this word) + a (because all Greek needs a little Latin) + religionist = philoanimusareligionist.com.

    My work here is done.

  38. How about Chuck’s Unapologetic Tract Infection?

  39. “C.U.T.I”? heh

I loved every episode of Irreligiosophy, even the really terrible ones that have to fill both hosts with shame and remorse. So I’m looking forward to whatever comes next – good, bad, or ugly as fuck.

  40. Unapologetics. You don’t want to associate the show’s name with something as lame as Chick Tracts. Besides, I wouldn’t have gotten the pun a year ago; I never heard of those silly-ass things til I started listening to Irrelig.

  41. Please come back both Chuck and Leighton! I just discovered Irreligiosophy only to find it disbanded. I appreciate the info and wish there were more new episodes. The two of you together really make an a good podcast. Set aside the differences… do what you should and continue. Thanks!

  42. Dr Phlebas (hons) says:

I’m with Citizen Wolf, Unapologosophy is a stroke of genius, no one will ever be able to spell that!!!

Or, Chuck’s Unapologetic New Tracts Podcast. That rolls off the tongue just like the Fraternal United Corpus Kristi University.

  43. Set aside the differences… do what you should and continue.

My standard response: the door is wide open. Leighton simply needs to start paying what he promised he would pay, just like any other adult is expected to do.

  44. Glad to hear you’ll be continuing to make podcasts Chuck. With all due respect to Leighton, you were the V8 engine on the gas-guzzling muscle-car that was Irreligiosophy. I remember listening in awe to the show you guys did with the Evidence For Faith guys, where you pretty much single-handedly tied them in knots on each subject, science, philosophy and theology. Anyway, keep it up!

  45. the 10th fan says:

stopped by because i miss the show, but new podcast? great news, definitely looking forward to it

  46. (KJV, get podcast title)

  47. JosephWasACuckold says:

    lol @ andrew

  48. Pat Robertson says:

Chuck tracts is way better. I mean, it is funny. OK?

  49. Is it too late to suggest The Great Whore of Babalon as the name of the podcast?

  50. Let me get my words in here Chuck!

I felt the need to jump in here without reading anyone else’s comments, and I’m just going to blast off.

The definition of Irreligiosophy as a Brand is “The Podcast that Chuck Does.”

There may be questions of format, but really, it’s not a formula anyway. Start with bullshit, talk about religion (bullshit) end with bullshit.

You already have a fan base and brand recognition.

I wish you’d be serious and tell us exactly how large that fanbase is, because I’m too ignorant and lazy to figure it out for myself.

The point is, I think your reasons for doing a similar podcast with a new “Brand” are fallacious.

So anyway, I vote for Unapologetics, I think more of your target audience are going to understand it – personally, I’d never heard of Chick Tracts until I listened to your show, but I was familiar with apologetics.

I haven’t had a chance to check out the new shows because I only listen to podcasts at work, but I’ve no doubt you’re a brilliant and abominable asshole. But I do miss you, and hope you aren’t getting into this too quickly – I seem to remember you said that the podcasting gig was wearing thin. There may be recently alleviated causes for that, but I’m not privy to that.

    Keep it real big fella.
    Keep it real.
