Lots of sideways walking, head shaving, funny hats and cylindrical beards in this podcast, where Matt dives deep into the primordial waters of Egyptian mythology. A couple of skunk dicks too!

Episode 四: 妖怪

Turning Japanese, Joemma are turning Japanese, you’ll really think so. In this episode, we brave the supernatural world of Yōkai, spirits of Japanese folklore. Japan freak Joe leads us through this seriously weird and wonderful topic with tales of tails, shitloads of shape shifters, hoards of hags, and testaments to…well, you’ll find out. You’ll have a ball of a time listening to this one, but might want to recite some sutras and write your name on a cucumber before pressing play, just to be on the safe side.

2nd Law #4: Zoroastrianism

In this episode, Joemma discuss Zoroastrianism; the world’s first “revealed” religion (meaning a prophet pulled this shit out of his ass/arse). Zoroastrianism’s theological innovations provided the backbone for the Abrahamic faiths as we know them today. It is admirable for its emphasis on celebrating life and its optimistic perspective, as opposed to the asceticism and self-loathing promoted by more emo religions of yore like Manicheanism.

Joe knows a fair bit about this shit, so he takes the lead while Emma says “OK, yep, interesting” a lot, and leaves the more linguistically dextrous Joe to pronounce all the foreign words just right.

Good thoughts, good deeds, good words and a good time will be had by all. Rev up your Mazda, you’re in for one hell of a ride.

88: The Nature of Existence

In this episode we interview Roger Nygard, director of the newly-released-on-DVD documentary, “The Nature of Existence.” Roger traveled all over the world in search of answers to such questions as why we exist, what do we do about it, is there a God, is there a Heaven or Hell, why we masturbate, what about gay people, and most importantly, why is Orson Scott Card such a humongous douchebag? We also discuss one of Roger’s previous efforts, Trekkies, because Leighton is such a huge Star Trek nerd.

68: Crazy Yogic Cult

[irrelig]Continuing our fan-requested and much-beloved guest month, we discuss an inordinately strange cult surrounding a little old lady who claims to be an avatar of God, but can’t cure her own diabetes and deafness. Fun and hijinks abound as we discuss chakras, yogic meditation, and a whole host of unpronounceable Hindu words with a guy who grew up inside the insanity. Go ahead and spin your chakra right here.

Also, we knew we’d have to do something special for our 69th episode, so we lined up our biggest guest to date. In fact, our guest for episode #69 is slightly more famous than our only other famous guest, Bob Price. He actually has a huge following, and has even been on the silver screen. Find out who in 3 short days.

65: Hinduism — And This Time We Really Mean It

[irrelig]Guest month is underway! To make up for Leighton’s horrible botching of the first Hinduism podcast, we captured a real-life Hindu and forced him to divulge all the secrets of this crazy religion. The majority of the podcast is essentially telling Leighton where he got it wrong, but the conversation ranges widely, from Shiva to Kali to a little bit of Islam for good measure.
