The 2nd Law has died, the 2nd Law has risen, the 2nd Law will come again (lucky 2nd Law).
Yes, we’re back from the dead with an episode all about Easter. Well, it’s more about all the goriness of The Crucifixion and the Stations of The Cross. Then, we spend about 1 minute on Jesus’ resurrection. That’s just how The Gospels roll.
Be sure to check out the freaky floating Jesus face (Veronica style) under the Second Law thread on the Irreligiosophy forum. Seriously, Joe is scarred for life. Emma is just quietly amused, and maybe a tad frightened.
Between gadflies, bilbies, a whole lotta Marys and some random dude named Simon, we hope this episode floats at least a small portion of your boat. We know we haven’t nailed it yet, but please don’t be too cross (LOL).
Our loins are girded, so bring it, bitches.
Emma

Skype – free. Audacity – free. Separate podcast feed you can ignore – Priceless.
You’re getting better. Still rough, but better than the first time.
2 points and 1 request
a) Spear of Longinus. There are at least 2. During the 1st Crusade (the siege of Antioch), a very shady character named Peter Bartholomew received a vision and discovered it. This strengthened the morale of the crusaders and they managed to break the siege. Later, when he showed it to the Byzantinians they said “Meh. We already have one of those.”
b) When Jesus is looking at Mary and John and saying “Behold thy son”, he is talking about John, not himself. The point is that he shall look after her.
c) Any chance of diving into Aboriginal religions?
I think this “side show” is just a scam so Chuck and Leighton can slack off. Get someone else to do a podcast and Chuck and Leighton can slap their name on it and collect all the revenue. Emma & Joe, you are good enough to host your own podcast. You don’t need Chuck and Leighton to leech off you.
Not on Itunes…
It has been submitted to iTunes and is awaiting approval.
OH MY GOD SO HORRIBLE MY EARS
But srsly, nice show guys. I am a connoisseur of goofy intros and I like what you’re doing with those. Here’s looking forward to the orgasmic episode #5 or something.
@Anders
“Oh yeah! Well OUR savior wept and moaned as he was poked in the side by this ORDINARY, STANDARD ISSUE SPEAR! Beat that Antioch!”
@ Gliblord: Are you anti-Antioch?
@ Anders: Yep, I’ve thought about going into the Indigenous Australian Creation Myths and The Dreamtime. Very interesting indeed.
I am merely Och.
I thought this was a really good improvement and was very (though brief) good review of Easter. Being a Catholic, it is always fascinating to see what we teach 7 and 8 year olds.
Thank you and looking forward to future podcasts.
The episodes aren’t coming up in my podcast downloader of choice.
New second law episode makes me a less Sad Panda, which in turn makes me Sad Panda and therefore the universe is in balance.
According to Dan Carlin ( http://www.dancarlin.com/disp.php?page=hharchive ), it was considered an act of mercy to kill someone who was being crucified because crucifixion is a horrible and long death. Carlin says some victims even paid the guards to kill them to take them out of their misery.
Oh FUCK not again.
Pah…
I love how Christians always display Jesus with holes in his hands, despite the evidence we have that Rome nailed people to wood through the wrists. I once asked my pastor (back in my religious days) why people depicted him with pierced hands. He told me that Jesus was pierced through the hands. I explained how that doesn’t make sense, and he responded with “They made an exception and pierced Jesus’ hands because they knew he was special.”
lol @ Discord: The things people say when: “I don’t know” is evidently too hard… I think Christians in general like to make it seem like they have the answers to everything as sort of an inferiority complex or something. They explain things they can’t possibly know as if they were ACTUALLY there! lol!
Dudes, he was a carpenter, plus he was Jesus. He must have had super strong hands or something. My question is whether Jesus had to suppress his healing factor while on the cross.
But he HAD to be pierced through his hands – that’s where Stigmata happen 😉
@Gliblord
Clearly he incorporated the adamantine nails into his body. That’s how he was able to dig through the rock placed over his tomb by the Hulk.
God, if it were me crucifying the son of man I’d have so many interesting experiments
Roman guard: If we split Jesus in half, will he form into two Jesuses like a starfish? Only one way to find out…
Gliblord – are you saying that Jesus was Wolverine?
Still not on I-tunes and experiencing error messages when trying to download mp3.
Y’know, it says episode 3, but I only see one episode in iTunes….maybe it’s my computer playing tricks again.
I want an episode 2.
@Anders Seeing as Wolverine is ubiquitous now I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a canon–comics or religious–where Wolverine was the messiah.
Love the episode (almost coughed up a lung at the “Tutto Rosso” bit). One objection: “Oestros” (οίστρος) is a greek word and yes, it means both gadfly and frenzy, in particular mating frenzy.
Greek orthodox Easter is later than the Catholic one, another point at which there is a schizm. Ah well, I’ll forgive you for being heretics once again, just because you entertained me.
Could you fix RSS feed?
RSS feed points to http://www.irreligiosophy.com/podcasts/2law/2L_003.mp3 when podcast is at http://www.irreligiosophy.com/podcasts/2ndlaw/2L_003.mp3.
Thanks. 🙂
The irreligious stations of the cross was so funny I just listened to it again. I enjoyed the main topic as well. As an adult I became an Episcopalian and the little church I attended did not have stations in the sanctuary so during lent they would put tack up black and white pictures. It spoiled the effect somehow.
I will never make an editor-that should read either they put up, or, they would tack up, etc.
This is the best imaginary podcast ever!
Feed should work (on the site at least) now. The good news is that the 2nd Law has been approved by iTunes, but give it a few hours for the feed to update there.
Great Podcast Guys! That intro was solid gold! (I had to go back after I learned about the 14 stations) Keep up the good work!
This still never showed up in my itunes. Maybe god is mad at me.
Emma & Joe: You’re doing so much better! I enjoyed your show. Love the music. Can you tell me what the music is?
By a strange coincidence, it was exactly 3:00pm PST when I was listening to the discussion about Jesus croaking and saying one of the many “last” words. Strangely, it was only partly cloudy, and I cannot attest to everyone going silent as I was driving. Since I work at a casino, there very well may have been people gambling over Jesus’ belongings.
This podcast was very enjoyable. You really shook the rust off the first attempt. Since I listened so late, there is already another interesting topic waiting for me in episode 4.
