[chuck]I almost titled this post “I found myself in the goddamn ER again …” but thought better of it.

My wife had exploratory surgery yesterday to find a reason for the daily bouts of abdominal pain she’s been suffering from for the past three years. The good news is the surgeon found some possible culprits and addressed them. The bad news is she had some pretty severe nausea after discharge and couldn’t keep her pain medication down, so we ended up back in the ER last night. She’s doing fine now, and we’re optimistic for the future.

Episode 111 “What Is Truth?” co-hosted by Matt Wakefield has been recorded but I haven’t had time to edit it. I may not have time in the near future, but I will get to it when I can. The book is divided into two sections: a treatise on why science is wrong about evolution and why True Scientists™ support intelligent design, and a section on why Kirk Hastings’ religion is true and every other religion on the planet is false. We covered the first section (briefly — honestly this part is so filled with garbage we could have spent months trolling its depths) in Episode 111. I think we’ll try to do a 112 on the second section before closing up shop here.

Hope your wife gets better. I hate nausea.

What do you mean by “close up shop here?” You mean two more Irreligiosophy episodes before you move over to Chuck Tracts?

Take care, don’t wind up in the the emergency room again.

  2. By closing up shop I mean locking site comments and shutting down the forum. People will be able to access all the stuff that’s here at the time of shutdown, but won’t be able to comment or add anything new. That way it can be revived without much effort at any time in the future.

It’ll be like Sleeping Beauty in cryogenic freeze, waiting for some handsome prince to trot by and slip her some tongue.

  3. Hope you guys get through this quickly and in good health.

  4. Hope the health issues clear up. ER trips are spendy… mentally, physically and financially. Can’t wait to hear the new episode.

  5. dead baby says:

Glad to hear you wife is feeling better nausea and cramps can be a real bitch. I hope to hear and enjoy the new show whenever you can get to it.

  6. Best of luck to your wife and I hope she recovers soon!

  7. Hope your wife gets better quickly! I’m praying for… just kidding

I like the idea of freezing it. That way you don’t need to fuss with moderating or anything like that, and focus on getting settled in your new direction. We’ll still be here when you’re ready (at least I will)

I wish your wife a speedy recovery. And I hope she doesn’t see the inside of an ER, hopefully never again, realistically not for a very long time. I find taking the grandkids who have fallen off a bike acceptable, kids who don’t fall and get hurt are kids who are not out playing and that’s a shame.

  9. Bad news – hope everyone feels better soon. Oh, and BTW, I have a diagnosis. The pain she has been suffering for the last few years is you. I hope the surgeon addressed your cordially.

  10. JosephWasACuckold says:

Oh, that sucks. I thought you were doing Unapologetics or something.

Anyway, I’ll pray for your wife. And I’ll pray to the Zoroastrian god so you know you’ll get good results.

  11. Hope all goes well soon!

  12. I hope your wife feels better. I am waited with baited breath for the next episode!

  13. I have a fatted calf awaiting your green light for sacrifice.
I hope she feels better soon!

  14. Thoughts and best wishes for your wife. Take care as always.

  15. Jack Pollock says:

Hope your wife has a fast recovery and gets to feeling tip top.

  16. I too am sorry to hear you guys are having a hard time and hope your wife feels better soon. And I’ll be checking back looking to hear from you in the future, too.

  17. Seriously, hope all is well with your wife, Chuck! And of course, Fuck You very much in advance for the new and, I guess, final episodes!

  18. After getting an internship at the local npr affiliate and having to spend hours of my day editing out “um’s” I have a new appreciation for how long it takes to get audio up. Good luck (or whatever us heathens say) to your wife.

  19. She’s doing much better today, clearly due to everyone’s prayers.

  20. Glad to hear she is doing better, though now I’ll have to find another reason to sacrifice this goat.

  21. Mmmm, goat…

  22. You know, we never got a run down for the top 10 skunk dicks of 2011. How will I know who sucked the most ass last year if you don’t tell me?

  23. Glad she’s all right, man. I’ve already sacrificed about a 1,000 shepherds, to say nothing of all the goats, just to cover all bases.

  24. I hope the episode will be up soon.
I sacrificed half of my Thai children for that. And the other half to make your wife get better.
If this doesn´t work I´ll sue Shiva for all that Karma he owes me.

  25. Congrats Chuck. I’m happy your wife proved religion.

  26. Take care of the wifey. And make sure she knows that people from the internet are thinking about her.

  27. This is important: While we wait for you, what is the name of that one podcast run by some guys you called the Mormon Brothers? I used to have it in my podcast RSS, but it got eaten by a wild format.

  28. Citizen Wolf says:

I didn’t pray at all. That obviously did the trick. 🙂

  29. nothing fails like prayer!

  30. You keep talking about closing up shop, but can never quite bring yourself to do it. I have the sneaking suspicion that you are too attached to this podcast to give it up completely!

  31. It’s possible.

  32. You’ve left me no alternative but to listen to mormon expression (http://mormonexpression.com/) They are way to nice. I need more fuck you! I’ve already told you I would help. I will make sure that I don’t do any research and sound really clueless. So give me a call! Glad to hear your wife is doing good.

  33. Mormon Expressions is pretty good (at least when John and Zilpha are on). John and Chuck have different styles, but both do their homework and have the verbal skills to make the opposition flounder. Really hope both keep at it.

  34. JosephWasACuckold says:

How’s your life mate? Did she get a cholecystectomy yet? Hope things are doing well. I’ll keep praying to Haile Selassie for her health.

  35. Give your wife my condolences. Crassly, I’m going to ask about the projected date of your critique of “What is Truth” by Kirk Hastings. I acquired a copy and spent far more time than necessary critiquing it; usually in the margins (which are, by now, more or less black in color). I found it surprisingly well-written insofar as the prose didn’t reflect Kirk’s stunted, often non-sensical radio personality, so kudos for being able to write coherently. Never mind the self-contradictions, the appeals to scientific “facts” that have long since been disproven, the equation of ‘Intelligent Design” with “Biblically Inerrant Creationism” (sure, they’re coming from the same KIND — we know how much creationists LOVE the word “KIND” — of creationist, but being an ID’er is necessary, though not sufficient, for being a young-earth creationist.

Anyhoo, it’d be great if you brought Kirk on one last time to humiliate him with the myriad errors in his book.
