[chuck]So I had initially planned to do a podcast every 2 weeks, but that won’t happen this month. Look forward to the next podcast on February 1st. I think I’ll skip the second part of the empty tomb podcast (as it’s mostly a rehashing of the first part, just fleshed out with more detail), and instead do episode two on CS Lewis and “Mere Christianity.” Lewis is possibly the foremost Christian apologist of the 20th century and “Mere Christianity” his foremost apologetic work.

I was surprised while reading the book how many of these arguments I’d already encountered in regular conversations with actual Christians, as opposed to apologetic Christians who can recount the Kalam Cosmological Argument by rote (while not fully grasping it or its implications), or attempt to grill me on context, chapter, and verse of the Bible. Lewis’s arguments are the ones you’re most likely to hear from your neighbor or coworker, so we’ll cover both the arguments and why they ultimately fail (… or do they?). It just might make for the best podcast in the history of the universe.

  1. Get off your ass and get us a podcast you slacker! I don’t care if you are exhausted from all that gay fiction you have been starring in.

  2. But there aren’t even any fluffers. I’m worn out like Mike the Sea Lion, just floating around in the pool and hoping for the zookeepers to come fish me out with a net.

  3. Awesome. Hurry up and get it posted SLACKER…. I kid I kid… but seriously… i am going through withdrawals. .

  4. I don’t know how many black fans you have, but I’m one. Sucks to wait til’ feb 1st but this bullshit almost died, so that’s not as long a wait anyway.

Do some black shit!! Like a show about the Mormon racism. Attacking the idiots at blacklds.org would be nice.

  5. Aww, it’s just like the good ol’ days!

  6. Some things just never change. You’re still a tease.

  7. I tried to donate but it would only allow a donation of 1.99 or some crap, but I’m more generous that that so I didn’t donate anything. Can you get the donation thing fixed?

  8. Hey Chuck, and Matt, what about a Conference, a round table, a get toghether meeting? Irreligiosophist Get United!!!

  9. That’s a great topic idea, actually… I’ve read some of Lewis’ arguments, and they are awful, illogical garbage Yet he is considered to be one of the great apologists… baffling.

I also had a couple of podcast topic ideas. One is something on Martin Luther, and the Reformation in general. Related, and perhaps more interesting, would be a look at the history of anti-Semitism in Christianity

  10. The return if Irreligiosophy is proof there is a god as my prayers have been answered! I was missing the unique blend of informed commentary, humor and snark. Looking forward to many more…

  11. Thank you for everything guys!

  12. Living in South Carolina, Lee Strobel is the “apologist” that christians seem to admire and use in defense of their belief. I have read some of his material and all I can say is that he is the Sarah Palin of apologetics. I am currently taking a comparitive religions course and after studying Hinduism, I can safely say that no one understands the complexity of their religious framework. It has aspects of monotheism, pantheism, and polytheism.

  13. As a horror movie fan, I was interested to hear that they have made a “Haunting in Georgia” film. It is supposed to be a sequel to that rectal abomination “A Haunting in Connecticut.” It might be a great idea for a comparison film vs documentary episode or just make fun of it anyway.

  14. I know its exhausting to fill a pool with that much semen, but you still have to work on the podcast… Just think of the gay penguins for inspiration. And don’t forget superman in his tight blue/red pants saving christians while becoming the new god of the romans.

This brings up a good question about the semen absourbancy of superman’s outfit and weather he has to change it after each episode of Kirk’s comic.

By the way i did use an apostrophe in the proper manner there, unlike Kent Hovind and KVG. LOL

Why is it it only allows me to tithe $1.99?!

Old one lets me donate any amount I want.

God wants me to give till it hurts! And I haven’t felt a pinch yet.

  16. The donation button should be fixed now. Thanks!

  17. I like the other topic suggestions and would like to add my own. A look at that evil bastard Calvin, LDS correction camps, boarding schools, etc. for kids and you said you were going to do a podcast on the witch trials.

Loved the empty tomb podcast you came back in well, not style exactly, but you did come back! You two made me laugh out loud a couple of times-double plus good.

Hi Skunk Dickers! I made a neat new cartoon. Check it out!

Mmassey, episode 39 is the one on the haunting in Georgia.

I hope you are taking the extra time to store up some extra episodes for us so this sort of thing will happen less and less. I hope that’s the case, but I don’t believe it for a second. Do a podcast on the movie “A Thief in the Night.” I was subjected to this film and others in the series as a kid and it gave me nightmares until I watched it again as an adult and found it to be a campy, low budget laugh riot.

Love the podcast. I discovered the podcast after hearing you on the Cognitive Dissonance podcast. I’m an eX Mormon in Utah that appreciates your pointing out the ridiculousness of the Mormon faith. Utah is full of crazy beliefs so finding new topics shouldn’t be hard. 12 step programs almost always provide an interesting discussion on cult mentality. I haven’t heard the episode YET, about a “Haunting in Georgia”; however, amongst my friends the endless amount of humor after a run in with Wasatch paranormal investigators still brings tears of laughter.

  22. Kirk Hastings is a piece of shit. He’s Kent Hovinds ghost from prison. Listening to his podcast gave me bloody diarrea.

  23. Oh no. You gave me time for homework! I read “Mere Christianity”, courtesy of my evangelical brother in law. Now millions of my brain cells have committed suicide! You better make up for it with a fantastic podcast. Although, knowing what kind of skunkdick you are, the podcast will probably will be postponed.

  24. To lack of brain cells is making me write to many wills. Damn you C.S. Lewis!!!!

  25. Nice to see another podcast in the making. I loved the episodes before, and have listened to many of them several times.

Thanks for the interesting talks Chuck!

  26. Q: Where’s MAH PAWDCAST?!

A: On mah computer. Right now.

I hope Matt Wakefield is in it.

  27. It’s already Feb 1st, you liar! May all your coffees get cold and all your sodas come with no gas!
