[irrelig]This week, for a little change of pace, we delve into the topic of the Dead Sea Scrolls, a group of documents uncovered during the late 40s and early 50s in the Qumran area near the Dead Sea. We talk about how these manuscripts, which lay hidden for centuries, were finally discovered, who wrote them, and why. The discussion that follows briefly covers the Community Rule scroll, the Damascus Document, the Halakhic Letter, and the War Scroll, and we also touch on the intersection between the Qumran Community and early Christianity.

In this episode, we cover 3 more Chick Tracts, all sent in by our audience since our Thai child passed on during our absence: “Oops,” a “tract for blacks,” “Fairy Tales,” about a poor little boy screwed up by his horrific upbringing, and “The Last Generation,” an accurate prognostication about the “near future” apocalypse as told by the Bible and interpreted by our intrepid scribe, Jack T. Chick.

Now, neither of us here at Irreligiosophy currently hold PhDs, so we were ill-prepared to tackle such a great work. Of course, that’s never stopped us before …

So honored that we decided to check out the rest of the podcasts in that category who were our co-nominees (such as Mars Hill, Wigglian Way, and More Than One Lesson). Now we’re less honored.

Anyway, What resulted was our longest podcast to date. We’re still recuperating.
