43: PodCastAwards, Part 2

[irrelig]We’ve come to the second part of our expose on the PodCastAwards competition, the “mostly skeptical” portion. Not to worry, there are still a few religious loons to dress down, but the majority of the podcasts we go over this week are indeed skeptical. And unfortunately, very boring. Nothing we could do about that — but we gave it our best shot.

All that and some shocking news about the future of the Atheist News Network! Listen here.

ANN 34: Godly Lies and Beck, Again

[ann]Listener Chris sends us a report about how the Ireland branch of the Catholic Church was caught with its pants on fire (shock! awe!). But it’s okay, people: they weren’t lying, they were “mentally reserving” the truth. Who knew God was an attorney? And try as we might to ignore him, listener Richard lets us know that Glenn Beck still exists. Get your smug-faced, square-haircut, weepy-eyed-Mormon-jackass bashing right here.

I promise we’ll keep to our new schedule of full podcast early in the week and ANN later in the week — except for the fact that I just mentally reserved the word, “maybe.”

42: PodCastAwards Competition

[irrelig]Ok, so we’ve been nominated for an award in the Religion and Inspiration category of Podcastawards.com.We were truly, truly honored. So honored that we decided to check out the rest of the podcasts in that category who were our co-nominees (such as Mars Hill, Wigglian Way, and More Than One Lesson). Now we’re less honored.

Anyway, What resulted was our longest podcast to date. We’re still recuperating.

By the way, the “break music” is actually real Wiccan music. It’s called “Hear Diana,” and was composed by some guy named BarleySinger.

41: Jehovah’s Witnesses

[irrelig]So episode 41 is finally here, in which we finally capitulate to the many requests to cover the inanity that is the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Neither Satan, nor Jesus, nor Comcast could keep us from recording it. We also cover some international iTunes reviews as well as our recent nomination to the religion category at podcastawards.com.

Check it out here, and then make sure to vote for us daily until the podcastawards contest is over!

ANN 32: Mormons, Gays, and the American Legion

[ann]The 32nd episode of ANN is here. In it we discuss the (very) recent passage of pro-gay rights legislation right here at Mormon Central — Salt Lake City, Utah — in the context of their recent and very public support of Prop 8 and their less recent caving in to public pressure on polygamy in exchange for their continued right to exist and Utah statehood. We also talk about a bunch of petulant old farts who think it’s their right to violate the First Amendment to our Constitution.
