[chuck]Hopefully this one has a little more merit than the PodCastAwards. I got this email in my inbox today:

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that you’ve received nominations for Best Podcast in the 2011 About.com Readers’ Choice Awards. You’re in the top 10 nominations, in fact, but only the top 5 will move on for the final vote.

I thought you might want to know in case you wanted to encourage your readers and listeners who haven’t acted yet to place nominations before the nomination time ends on Friday.

I suppose you can all head over there and nominate us in a futile attempt to get us into the top 5 only to have our hopes and dreams crushed by Skeptical Guide to the Universe Reasonable Doubts. Alternatively, if you’re anything like Leighton or myself, you’ll shrug your shoulders and continue doing whatever it was you were doing.

[leighton] Yesterday I found this in the main site’s email account. It sparked quite a bit of conversation between Kirk Hasting’s and myself and even generated a beloved cartoon starring me(Not as beloved as a Jack Chick tract, but it’ll have to do.). There are quite a few stumpers in this list of questions such as, “If life DID “evolve”, then why did it ever evolve beyond weeds, ants and cockroaches, which are much better equipped for reproduction and survival than we are?”

I’m putting this up here so you all can answer and enjoy the foray as you see fit while we put the final preparations on this week’s episode. So please, enjoy the words of the enlightened vs. the neanderthal.

You all feel better with a firmer grasp on what we look like? Does it help you fall asleep at night to our voices with these images fully locked into your brains? Guess I ought to thank my sister in law for helping me pull on my diaper and taking the pictures.

[chuck]I’ve been trying to get in touch with Leighton to record this week’s podcast, but apparently he’s at a Wiccan winter solstice party living it up. That’s dedication for you!

We’ll get to it tomorrow. In other news, the E4F guys recently posted a “Debate Analysis,” which is apparently an hour-long analysis over what amounted to something like 15 minutes of debate. Interesting that they’d be “analyzing” a debate without the opposing side present to rebut their claims. I wonder what the point of that could be? Shouldn’t the debate stand or fall on its own merits?

I’m beginning to wonder if this kind of thing isn’t standard operating procedure for Christians: change the terms of the debate at the last minute, get beat anyway, then show up alone the next week and spin doctor like crazy.

[chuck]I’ve spoken with Leighton and if we can finish off the very important things that remain on our to-do list (I’ve always wanted to watch every episode of Scooby-Doo in one sitting), we’re going to record a new podcast on Monday. So it should be edited and uploaded on Tuesday. We were going to take the rest of the year off because our extended absence was pissing off so many people, but then a couple of people recommended we take the year off. Realizing it was impossible to piss everyone off, we surrendered. So, new podcast coming.

Now we just have to decide if we’re going to do the Prop 8 podcast or delay it yet again and do the one on “Haunting in Connecticut” first. Also, good news! The guys over at Evidence 4 Faith have agreed to be interviewed/debated, so we just have to hammer out the whens and wheres.
