95: Ray Garton

[irrelig]Author and atheist Ray Garton comes onto the show to discuss his involvement in the “Haunting in Connecticut” drama, as well as his personal experiences with Ed and Lorraine Warren and the Snedekers. Along the way we touch on such heady topics as atheist vs biblical morality, selling out, the Ten Commandments, and why all demons have a predilection for anal rape.

Also, Skunk Dicks.

94: Chariots of Iron

[irrelig]”And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.” — Judges 1:19

In this episode, Eli from Chariots of Iron braves our probing questions for a deep, incisive discussion between probably the two best atheist podcasts in the known universe. Miss it and be square.

So, apparently you’ve nominated us for another award …

[chuck]Hopefully this one has a little more merit than the PodCastAwards. I got this email in my inbox today:

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that you’ve received nominations for Best Podcast in the 2011 About.com Readers’ Choice Awards. You’re in the top 10 nominations, in fact, but only the top 5 will move on for the final vote.

I thought you might want to know in case you wanted to encourage your readers and listeners who haven’t acted yet to place nominations before the nomination time ends on Friday.

Regards,

I suppose you can all head over there and nominate us in a futile attempt to get us into the top 5 only to have our hopes and dreams crushed by Skeptical Guide to the Universe Reasonable Doubts. Alternatively, if you’re anything like Leighton or myself, you’ll shrug your shoulders and continue doing whatever it was you were doing.

93: E4F Debate Analysis Analysis

[irrelig]So, apparently the debate has been continuing on the Evidence 4 Faith show without us. In this episode, we take the time to carefully but respectfully respond to the recent E4F segments that continue to analyze what they should have said but didn’t while the debate was actually happening.

It’s really all about respect, you know.

Kirk Hasting’s “Top Ten Questions for Darwinists”

[leighton] Yesterday I found this in the main site’s email account. It sparked quite a bit of conversation between Kirk Hasting’s and myself and even generated a beloved cartoon starring me(Not as beloved as a Jack Chick tract, but it’ll have to do.). There are quite a few stumpers in this list of questions such as, “If life DID “evolve”, then why did it ever evolve beyond weeds, ants and cockroaches, which are much better equipped for reproduction and survival than we are?”

I’m putting this up here so you all can answer and enjoy the foray as you see fit while we put the final preparations on this week’s episode. So please, enjoy the words of the enlightened vs. the neanderthal.

92: The Inter-Testamental Period

[irrelig]Finally we get to Chuck’s research on Judaism, focusing on the inter-Testamental period. Ever wonder what happened between the Old and the New Testaments? Well too bad, we’re telling you anyway. We discuss events from the Ptolemaic reign through the Seleucids, the Hasmonean independence, Roman rule, and what happened to lead up to the destruction of the second Jewish Temple and the disastrous Bar Kochba Rebellion.

That + iTunes reviews + Skunk dicks is episode 92.

Realities Revealed

“My wife and I were both astounded about this, too. We both pictured Chuck as a diminutive fellow, built sort of like Neil Patrick Harris, while my mental image of Leighton was six feet of pure muscle topped with a biker ‘stache…”

Due to the constant commentary I figured I would treat you all to our realities revealed. First we have Charley:

Then, of course, there’s me:

You all feel better with a firmer grasp on what we look like? Does it help you fall asleep at night to our voices with these images fully locked into your brains? Guess I ought to thank my sister in law for helping me pull on my diaper and taking the pictures.

91: Hitler, Darwin, and Atheism

[irrelig]Chuck’s Sources: “Atheism Was Not the Cause of the Holocaust,” by Hector Avalos, PhD; Chapter 13 of The Christian Delusion, and Fighting Words: A Toolkit for Combating the Religious Right by Robin Morgan
Leighton’s Sources: See Hitler Run: Run, Hitler, Run!, Wikipedia

In his podcast we answer the Christian charge that Hitler was an atheist, and that Nazism and the Holocaust were inevitable results of Darwin’s theories. We discuss Dinesh D’Souza, Richard Weikart, Pope Innocent III, and Martin Luther, father of the Protestant Reformation and the original Nazi.

All that and some more skunk dickishness in episode 91.

90: More Than One Lesson

[irrelig]In episode 90, Tyler of fellow PodCastAward nominee More Than One Lesson podcast, comes on to tell us what huge assholes we were to ridicule his show last year. We find out that he’s actually articulate, intelligent, and pretty nice to boot — but that probably won’t stop us from ridiculing his show again next year.

Also, we reveal the highly anticipated Skunk Dick of the Year for 2009. No spoilers!

89: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

[irrelig]For this 89th episode, we delve into the gritty folklore that is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which apparently everyone on Earth except Leighton has seen. We discuss the rank prejudice, the strain of having to hide your gayness by telling everyone you’re different because you’re a “dentist,” what a massive dick skinny Santa is, and what possible use could be put to a poor toothless Bumble.

All this and more Skunk Dicks than you can shake a stick at.
